Professional Service Specialist 2, Assessment and Evaluation, Academic Affairs at CMSRU

The Cooper Medical School of Rowan University Office of Medical Education seeks a full-time Professional Service Specialist 2 of Assessment and Evaluation. Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Assessment and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) of Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, this position will manage the implementation and delivery of the student performance assessment, program evaluation, and CQI systems at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Education, Healthcare Administration, or related fields
  • Three (3) years of professional experience (preferably in Higher Education, Evaluation, Assessment, Statistical Analysis, Mathematics, Social Science, or related fields).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Science, Education, Mathematics, Healthcare Administration or related fields
  • Three years working experience in Higher Education, Social Science, or Health Care related field
  • Working knowledge of One45 or similar learning management system; Exam Soft; Canvas Learning Management; or SPSS/SAS
  • Knowledge of LCME accreditation standards; Adult Learning Theory; Educational Assessment Practices; Rubrics; Evaluation Building; Statistical Methods; and Psychometrics
  • Proven ability to work with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of best practices in assessment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced confidential environment
  • Ability to set and keep deadlines
  • Ability to work on competing and concurrent projects and priorities
  • Must be able to communicate, interact and work effectively with students, faculty, staff, administration, and all external constituencies


Duties :

  • Coordinate the assessment system under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Assessment and CQI
  • Plan, research, implement and complete complex projects
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects related to assessment as needed
  • Work collaboratively with the deans, chairs, directors, course directors, and faculty to assist in the development and implementation of assessments for the medical education program at the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University
  • Build exams with CMSRU faculty members
  • Serve as a lead proctor for all CMSRU examinations
  • Work with other Office of Medical Education department staff members to carry out assessment and evaluation activities
  • Become proficient in One45, NBME testing systems, Exam Soft, and Blackboard software systems
  • Support curriculum map functions in One45 or a similar system
  • Coordinate the patient and procedure log functions or similar system
  • Carry out the construction, coordination, collection, and analysis of student, faculty, and course evaluations
  • Support the development of student assessments including OSCEs in the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center
  • Consult with faculty on the development of rubrics
  • Support projects related to accreditation and CQI
  • Attend student liaison meetings
  • Attend other meetings as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Assessment and CQI
  • Participate in the Office of Medical Education Research initiatives
  • Support faculty medical education research
  • Maintain evidence related to accreditation of the medical education program and other initiatives in the Office of Medical Education
  • Encourage interdisciplinary activities and work collaboratively with other divisions
  • Encourage and support diversity by creating an environment of professionalism, respect, tolerance, and acceptance
  • Create and proofread documents utilizing basic grammar, spelling, and formatting skills
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Dean for Assessment and CQI, Associate Dean for Medical Education, or Dean.


This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Work hours are typically between 8 AM and 5 PM, with flexibility for some evening hours.

Reporting Relationship :

  • The incumbent in this position reports to the Assistant Dean for Assessment and CQI at CMSRU.
