Position Summary:
Assists the Manager in everything related to books for all Middlebury schools and programs.

Essential Functions:
Offer is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.

· Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
· Understands and follows all College and Bookstore policies and procedures.
· Assist customers as needed.

· Coordinates communication with the members of the College community (faculty, visiting faculty, BL faculty and authors, Language Schools’ faculty, Language Coord, etc) concerning books.
· Responsible for and overseas the textbook database in ARC and Course Director. Keeps course catalog up to date with the help of the Registrar’s office and the President’s office. Communicates information up to third party wholesale team.
· Adds notes, edits virtual bookstore, approves and locks courses for preparation to go live for student sale.
· Communicates with faculty over order status and any issues regarding books (inventory, out of print, new editions). Will sometimes assist in locating the correct edition ISBN or reaching out to vendors, sometimes overseas.
· Assists and communicates with faculty and third party wholesaler on book searches and determines appropriateness of various editions.
· Communicates with faculty information regarding textbook ordering deadlines (adoptions due, Course Director closing, student bookstore opening), and follow up.

· Receives the Fall, Spring and Winter term textbook orders for students, and contacts individuals when they arrive; receives the majority of textbooks for Language Schools, Bread Loaf Schools, and Writer’s Conferences.
· Maintains all price lists for books in the POS system and the mobile POS system to ensure accurate scanning and pricing at time of checkout.
· Maintains customer on-line book ordering system. Works to keep book inventory to a minimum. Work with vendor to update the textbook information that is for sale.
· Responsible for ordering trade books for special events on campus.
· Responsible for the communication of coursepack deadlines, coursepack collection, as well as submitting jobs for printing. Obtaining copyright permissions and receiving coursepacks for placement on the shelf.
· Processing of credit memos in Oracle. Work with Assistant Manager on reconciling the bookstore Pcard statement.
· Create and maintain training and procedure documentation.
· Responsible for coordinating the tasks of employees assigned to work in the book section. Supervises and delegates work to employees working in the book section.
· Trains student workers.
· Coordinate with Facilities Services to survey all discarded books for collection and packaging up to send to Better World Books.
· Annual inventory: ensures all books are accounted for.

General Responsibilities:
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education:

High School diploma required; college preferred.

Inventory management, retail operations and shipping.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Computer literacy required. Good interpersonal skills and attention to detail a must.

Experience:
Retail, inventory management, and shipping experience required. College Bookstore experience preferred.

Physical Demands:
Ability with assistance to lift 75 pounds frequently. Ability to lift 50 pounds on a frequent basis without assistance.
