Assistant Professor of Psychology

Penn State New Kensington invites applications for a tenure-line faculty position in psychology to begin in Fall 2022. This is a full-time, 36-week appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The selected candidate will teach courses for our B.A. and B.S. degrees in psychology as well as courses that support our degree in biobehavioral health.

Responsibilities: Establish a substantial research agenda that includes national conference presentations and publications in respected, peer-reviewed journals. Teach a range of introductory and upper-division undergraduate courses (typically 9 credit hours per semester) using traditional, hybrid and online delivery methods. Teaching assignments may require teaching day, evening and/or Saturday classes as needed. Participate in course, curriculum, and program development. Advise students and provide career guidance. Participate in professional organizations as well as campus, university, and community service activities.

A Ph.D. in Psychology is required, as is a demonstrated interest in the field of developmental psychology and in teaching child- and adolescent-development courses. ABD candidates will be considered if there is a clear completion date before August 1, 2022. Evidence of potential for research, publication, and a commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment is expected. Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Prior college-level teaching experience required. Online or hybrid teaching experience is a plus. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.
