ROLE of the POSITION

The UNLV School of Social Work invites nominations and applications for an open rank tenure-track or tenured faculty position. The School welcomes applications from all strong candidates, and is particularly interested in candidates whose substantive areas include Trauma Informed Interpersonal violence and/or child welfare at either the macro or micro level or both. The candidate selected for this faculty position will be a strong scholar and teacher. Applicants at the rank of assistant professor must demonstrate strong research capacity and potential for external funding. Applicants at a higher rank must demonstrate distinguished scholarship and a record of extramural research funding.

It is an exciting time to be at the UNLV School of Social Work. We have developed a new focus in trauma-informed care and policy that will be rolled out in three phases, 1) Developing a trauma-informed faculty, 2) a trauma-informed MSW concentration, and 3) a trauma treatment center. In addition, the School of Social Work just received a $5.68 million child welfare training grant for the state of Nevada and continues to provide integrated behavioral health training to our MSW students via the HRSA Behavioral Workforce Grant. The UNLV student body is one of the most diverse in the country as is our social work faculty. A Candidate who is hired will also be in on the development of new doctoral and online MSW programing. Also, the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs where social work is housed, offers many interprofessional collaboration opportunities in interpersonal violence and child welfare.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Ph.D. in Social Work or cognate discipline (e.g., psychology, sociology, public health, neuroscience, and economics) and an MSW degree with a minimum of two years post-masters social work experience from a CSWE accredited college or university. It is preferred but not required that candidates will also possess the highest clinical state license in social work (e.g., LCSW, LISW) and be bilingual in Spanish and English. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

Faculty rank will be dependent upon education and experience as outlined below:

• Assistant Professor (tenure-track): terminal degree, experience, and demonstrate strong research capacity and potential for external funding.
• Associate Professor (tenure-track): terminal degree, experience, and demonstrate distinguished scholarship and a record of extramural research funding.
• Associate Professor (tenured): terminal degree, experience, and demonstrate distinguished scholarship and a record of extramural research funding.
• Professor (tenured): terminal degree, experience, and demonstrate distinguished scholarship and a record of extramural research funding.

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
