POSITION: Clinical Assistant Professor of Elementary Education (Non-Tenure Track)

QUALIFICATIONS: Consistent with Baylor University’s mission to be a world-class institution dedicated to Christian principles and ideals, the qualifications for the position include: 

  • Doctorate in one of the disciplines represented within the Department of Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field
  • Expertise in at least one of the following areas: bilingual/ESL education, literacy, social studies, STEM education, or urban education
  • Coherent progression of peer-reviewed scholarship (or strong potential for such) relevant to teachers’ preparation, curricular/instructional innovations for K-12 students, and/or the classroom environments in which they are served.
  • Experience teaching or working in PK-12 settings.
  • Experience in field-based settings and/or Professional Development Schools.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion among faculty, staff, and students.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This faculty position will be housed within the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Primary teaching responsibilities include the provision of high-quality instruction for elementary teacher education majors in field-based seminars and instructional methods courses. The position also entails leadership/support for the school improvement efforts of our partner professional development schools and scholarly dissemination of a relevant area of research related to teacher preparation, curricular/instructional innovations for K-12 students, and/or the classroom environments in which they are served. Clinical faculty loads in the department of Curriculum and Instruction are predominantly teaching, with additional expectations for research scholarship and service. Clinical faculty also have opportunities for promotion in rank i.e., (assistant, associate, full).

Responsibilities may also include service as a liaison between the university and partner professional development schools, supervising student teachers and/or practicum students, mentoring adjunct faculty and graduate teaching assistants who supervise or teach in the field-based program, and teaching elementary education courses.

SALARY AND BEGINNING DATE: The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and professional experience. The anticipated date of appointment is August 2022.
