The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville, seeks a full-time Comprehensive Ophthalmologist at the tenure or non-tenure accruing level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. Preferably with an interest in Cornea and External Diseases. Major responsibilities include providing excellence in patient care, teaching, and clinical research contributing to a diverse academic eye practice.
The Department consists of a small but growing group of talented ophthalmologists and optometrists, who offer a wide array of eye care services to the Jacksonville community. Our specialties include cornea and external disease, glaucoma, anterior segment surgery, diseases of the retina, uveitis, ocular tumors, oculoplastic and orbital surgery, neuro-ophthalmology, contact lenses, low vision and electrophysiology. We are a multi-specialty single location academic practice with a robust clinical volume. The Department has its own ophthalmology-specific surgery center adjacent to its clinical offices.
The practice is open to the interests of potential candidates, and flexibility exists for those seeking specific experiences or career paths. This position will report to the Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville.
The University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is the largest of the three UF colleges - medicine, nursing and pharmacy - located on the approximately 110-acre UF Health Jacksonville campus. The college's 16 clinical science departments house more than 400 faculty members and 300 residents and fellows. The college offers 32 accredited graduate medical education programs. In addition to graduate medical education, clinical rotations in all the major disciplines are provided for students from the UF College of Medicine in Gainesville.
For practicing physicians, the college offers a continuing medical education program that recruits national and international speakers who are well known and respected in their fields.
