Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Online Technologist II e xamines and analyzes distance learning (DL) courses and processes, and makes recommendations for technology enhancements. Primary emphasis is on conducting group or individual training sessions as required and as new products and technologies are rolled out. Has oversight of c ross- functional teams including faculty, staff, and instructional technologists in completion of projects, including but not limited to the development of on-line course offerings.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads teams in working on LSC-wide course development using online tools for delivery and enhanced student learning.
  • Assists in developing technology-assisted course material, and serves as a training and resource person for instructional technology topics.
  • Consults with faculty to incorporate online tools into courses making recommendations for enhancements.
  • Responsible for detailed project management to develop and deliver high quality online offerings in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Evaluates, tests, modifies, and installs emerging instructional technologies.
  • Examines and analyzes courses/processes, and makes recommendations on technology enhancements. Works closely with LSC IT staff in the support of applications utilized by distance learning faculty and students.
  • Works with LSC Online staff in exploring new instructional technologies, distance learning and alternative delivery methods, and professional development activities.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining LSC On-line websites and web tools.
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL ABILITIES :

    The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

    WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
    • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
    • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
    • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
    • May be required to work on-call after regular business hours and/or weekends
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree and a t least 5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Specialization in technical area as required
    Salary

    Hiring salary range is $60,295 - 69,339

    Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
