Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Manager, Financial Aid Call Center provides supervision and guidance to Specialist IVs, scheduling staff to ensure adequate office coverage at all times and triaging calls as needed. They provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with internal and external customers regarding regulations, policies, and procedures as outlined by the United States Department of Education and Lone Star College. Ensure that all system, campus and state policies and practices are correctly carried out.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide leadership to Financial Aid Call Center staff
  2. Responsible for hiring, training, and professional development planning for Call Center staff
  3. Handle student inquiries both over the phone and by email research required information using available resources manage and resolve student complaints
  4. Provide staff with process and service information enter new students' information into system update existing student information
  5. Identify and escalate priority issues handle escalated calls, emails and chats follow up student calls where necessary
  6. Document all call information according to standard operating procedures
  7. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.



WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards




REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in a call center or customer service environment
  • Must be in, and maintain, good standing with the Department of Education for continued employment


Salary

Hiring salary range is $46,300 - $53,245

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
