Dartmouth Engineering seeks to fill a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate level in the field of polar physical oceanography. This position is part of a thriving multidisciplinary academic cluster in Arctic Engineering in a period of Climate Change, and will promote convergent science within Dartmouth, including the Thayer School of Engineering, Earth Sciences, Geography, the Institute for Arctic Studies and Dartmouth’s Arthur L. The successful candidate will have a doctorate in engineering or a related science field and demonstrated potential to lead an externally funded research program pursuing transformational advances in our understanding of the effect of climate change on ocean interactions with sea ice and land ice. Candidates with fieldwork experience are particularly encouraged to apply. The candidate will be a gifted teacher with motivation and expertise that complements the Thayer School’s interdisciplinary approach to engineering education.
