Dean, School of Business Administration

The University of South Carolina Aiken (UofSC Aiken) invites applications for the position of Dean, School of Business Administration (position starting date, July 2022 or earlier). 

The School of Business Administration at UofSC Aiken is AACSB accredited, employs 17 full-time faculty members, and maintains five endowed faculty positions. The school enrolls over 700 undergraduate students and offers undergraduate business concentrations in accounting, finance, management, and marketing through traditional face-to-face instruction. The accounting and management concentrations are also offered online through UofSC’s Palmetto College. The school also offers an online MBA degree that has grown quickly and currently serves over 300 graduate students. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean is the chief academic officer of the School of Business Administration and is responsible for the academic, administrative, and budgetary leadership of the school. The Dean must be committed to providing an education that supports, develops, and creates skills and competencies in students based on the liberal arts. The Dean must also lead the school in continuing to provide the highest quality in business education for its students in accordance with the standards and expectations of AACSB. The Dean must advocate for the School of Business Administration to the broader campus and work to develop cross-campus connections and opportunities for the faculty and students of the school. The Dean must model excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service and must promote high expectations across the school. The Dean must seek out and develop external relationships with the community in support of the university’s mission and be a strong advocate for the university.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The School of Business Administration is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader who brings enthusiasm for the position and builds a strong sense of collegiality in the school and across campus.
  • Higher education administrative experience at the departmental level or above.
  • Experience with AACSB to provide leadership and support for re-accreditation.
  • An ability to foster faculty development in the full range of teaching, research, and service.
  • The ability to build strategic relationships with the business community and other campus units.
  • Ph.D. or other terminal degree from an AACSB accredited institution, in a business-related field, with a record that justifies tenure at the rank of Professor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An exemplary record of outstanding academic and professional achievement.
  • An attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong and effective communication and public relation skills with the ability to develop relationships with external constituencies.
  • A passion to add value to students and an ability to find innovative ways to provide this value.
  • Strong leadership to handle the growth of the school, which includes finding ways to increase its resources.
  • Experience with fundraising and the ability to work with the university, external partners, and alumni to increase fundraising for the school.
  • A record of promoting a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
