Job Description

Nature of Work

Develops, coordinates and continually monitors maintenance, safety and/or materials issues in an assigned area of campus operations, which may include but is not limited to occupational safety, fire safety, horticulture, hazardous materials management and/or storeroom/inventory management.
  • Performs a variety of assignments and analyses that impact the CSM Operations function
  • Understands key functional drivers and uses this understanding to accomplish/complete own work
  • Troubleshoots complex maintenance issues and performs quality assurance and preventative maintenance techniques
  • Solves routine to complex problems and provides solutions, recommendations, etc.
  • Analyzes potential solutions using experience, judgments and precedence, providing input and recommendations
  • Impacts the quality of own work and the work of others on the team, ensuring efficient workflows, productivity, etc.
  • Explains complex information to others, ensuring audience understanding
Key Responsibilities
  • Tracks energy usage and utility costs and provides reports as assigned
  • Monitors BMS energy dashboards and reports issues requiring maintenance and repair
  • Identifies projects and procedures that reduce consumption, calculating ROIs as needed
  • Researches and pursues rebates from energy supplies and equipment vendors as available
  • Reviews construction project plans for energy conservation opportunities
  • Collaborates with trade shops on energy related maintenance and repair needs
  • Provides point of contact to service providers, managing relationships on behalf of the university
  • Other Duties as Assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Possesses expanded conceptual knowledge of the CSM Operations function and broadens capabilities
  • Experienced assessing enterprise level energy usage, allocating resources, and developing plans aimed at consumption reduction, conservation, and cost savings
  • Familiarity with HVAC, DDC controls, energy procurement, and sustainable energy practices
Supervision Received
  • Works within guidelines and policies (e.g., assessing operations), noting improvements and efficiencies to supervisor/manager.
  • Reports to the Director of Campus Facilities Management
Supervision Exercised
  • Mentors/trains others in completing CSM Operations duties
  • May have some direct oversight of staff and/or contractors as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant field.

Professional certification related to the field of energy management.

Salary

$47,476 - $71,650, commensurate with education and experience.
