Description:
The study abroad coordinator will be advising and marketing TAMUCC study abroad programs to students and faculty members to facilitate the exchange programs, student-led programs, faculty-led programs, and thirty-party study abroad programs. The main responsibilities of this position are to generate more students' and faculty members' interests in study abroad programs through campus-wide marketing efforts; also advise students on various study abroad program offerings; manage enrollment and pre-departure orientation for participants; develop new study abroad opportunities and annual review of all continuing programs; update program materials and exchange agreements; participate in cost determinations and analysis; work with faculty, academic departments, and overseas partner institutions to facilitate the course approval process; provide information sessions and present at university-wide workshops and meetings; serves as a resource person for scholarship applications and tuition costs analysis; respond to study abroad students' health and safety issues and emergencies for the period of outside United States; and update the study abroad program information on OIE website as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Work with TAMUCC departments, faculty, and administrators to
develop and implement new study abroad programs, including
agreements, costs, program format, curriculum, application
procedures, insurance, etc.
- Conduct outreach to departments, faculty, and students, and
assist in developing faculty-led programs, student-led programs,
and exchange programs in the target countries.
- Advertise and promote TAMUCC study abroad programs at
university events/activities, and do classroom visits, information
sessions, and workshops 6 time per year or whenever needed by
faculty and students.
- Help study abroad students obtain the scholarship opportunities
such as Fulbright Scholarship, Gilman International Scholarship,
Hispanic Study Abroad Scholarship, Rotary Foundation Scholarship,
Study Abroad Europe Scholarship, AllDayChinese Scholarship,
etc.
- Conduct evaluations with students, faculty members, and
department representatives on program quality and learning outcomes
at the end of each semester.
- Plan and manage the annual study abroad fair, job/career fairs,
and coordinate the study abroad insurance programs.
- Administer the study abroad student recruitment, selection,
pre-departure orientation and post-study abroad
meetings.
- Advise students, faculty, staff, and departments on TAMUCC
policies and procedures related to study abroad.
- Serve as the principal campus advisor for study abroad students
and students who are currently studying abroad.
- Conduct international site visits with current and potential
partner institutions, as needed.
- Responsible for all visits to TAMUCC from partner institutions'
students, faculty, and administrators including airport pickups,
hotel arrangement, visit schedule, etc.
- Help international student and scholar services process the
paperwork when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in in International Studies, Counseling,
Higher Education Administration, or related field.
- Four (4) years of experience.
- Additional education may be used as a substitution for the
minimum experience requirement:
- Bachelors and four (4) years of experience
- Masters and two (2) years of experience
- Doctoral degree
- Bachelors and four (4) years of experience
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to
work well under pressure with confidential materials while also
effectively handling multiple jobs.
- Proficient computer skills including experience with Microsoft
Office Suite.
- Ability to establish and maintain a strong team, and work in a
collaborative environment with both internal and external
university schools, colleges, and departments, etc.
- Ability to work independently with minimal
supervision.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with departments, colleges,
and schools to find the appropriate resources and approaches to
resolve issues when they arise, and an awareness of common issues
and problems affecting them.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience living and studying abroad.
- Experience in study abroad program development and
implementation, marketing, budget planning and management for study
abroad programs.
- Experience with development and implementation of support
services for study abroad programs in a university, i.e. Study
Abroad Fairs, Job or Career Fairs, etc.
- Fluency in a second language.
- Experience in managing and maintaining websites with updated
information.
- Knowledge of Adobe professional 2016, and student systems
(Banner or PeopleSoft, Cascade, SPSS, SAS, etc.).
- Competency in file management, information collection, and
survey tools, statistical report and analysis, etc.
- Demonstrated success in promotion of the study abroad programs
and outreach to student populations in American universities or
colleges.
- Possess the professional knowledge of International agreements
(LoL, Reciprocal agreement, Affiliation agreement, Consortium
Agreement, Dual degree agreement, transfer degree agreement,
comprehensive partnership agreement, Agreement for research, etc.)
and study abroad programs, with the ability to effectively
communicate with Foreign universities, A&M-Corpus Christi
students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Demonstrate ability to incorporate current technology to
improve communication and support for students, faculty, and
staff.
