Position Description: The Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies (ADUS) will assist the Sociology Department ladder faculty members in the following ways: oversee the Department's undergraduate program, including the concentration and secondary field; conduct and coordinate undergraduate advising, including concentration and senior theses advising; oversee concentration advisers and Teaching Fellows; oversee Lecturers, including providing direction and/or guidance related to syllabus development, teaching, and policy; under the direction of the Department Chair and in consultation with faculty members and the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS), and working closely with the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS), Chair the meetings of the Departmental Curriculum Committee and arrange the departmental program of undergraduate course offerings for the coming academic year. This position comes with a dependent lecturership. You may teach up to 2 undergraduate courses per academic year, depending on departmental need. Additional duties as required. This position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Basic Qualifications: Doctorate in Sociology or related discipline required by the time the appointment begins (anticipated start date either January 1, 2022 or July 1, 2022 depending on candidate availability).

Additional Qualifications: Demonstrated excellence in, enthusiasm for, and commitment to undergraduate teaching. Relevant administrative experience. A broad understanding of the discipline of sociology, including its methods, subfields, and theoretical orientations. This position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Substantive areas of research and teaching are open.
