What you'll be doing

  • Serves as a member of the Dean's senior management team and provides operational support and counsel to the Associate Dean.
  • Acts on behalf of the Associate Dean's absence on matters related to the college and its programs.
  • Represents the dean and associate dean and college at various functions within and outside the institution as assigned.
  • Assists with data collection and analysis for strategic/long range planning for administrative goals, development and implementation of College strategic plans, PBA requests and reports.
  • Communicates and shows accountability regarding projects assignments.



Key roles and responsibilities

1. Works closely with the Associate Dean and the college Outreach Coordinator on orientation, student interaction, and community engagement for on- and off-campus programs (e.g., CET CARES, etc.), event organizations (inside and outside UVU), including but not limited to Engineering and Technology Week, Girls' Engineering and Technology Day, Pizza with the Dean, and coordinates events planning for the college.

2. Interacts with relevant campus administrative offices (students and faculty) on all issues related to student success; works with stakeholders in CET and UVU on financial aid, scholarship, admissions, alumni, registration, Student Life, Student Wellness, conflict resolution, concurrent enrollment, commencement and convocation.

3. Works on administration of transfer credits and student transfers; coordinates with the Advising Department on programs to improve retention and graduation and student services in relation with alumni, CET alumni scholarship programs, and employer relations; works with CET web developer and college Marketing to enhance student and faculty access for campus and college services.

4. Prepares and updates CET Student Handbook, conducts student surveys, works with CET student senator and student departmental representatives, and chairs on student organizations and student governance. Works closely with the CET Advising Department, and Internship and Career Planning offices on student advising, faculty mentoring of students, student career planning, and employer outreach.

5. Manages student awards, works with the college Outreach Coordinator and relevant UVU offices to facilitate and engage different cultures and diverse backgrounds, First Generation students, works with UVU Global Academics and international student recruiting on study abroad programs.

6. Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with MS degree in engineering, technology, or related fields, and evidence of progressive academic and/or administrative experience with a record of successful people management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge
  • Background and experience planning events
  • Enjoy working with diverse organizations on university campus and off-campus and dealing with the variety of issues that may occur while performing relevant tasks in the areas of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of administration processes and procedures to include technology and simulation integration, development, implementation, and assessment.
  • Knowledge of contracts/grants and guidelines, procedures, and policy. Knowledge of project management and document control principles.
  • Knowledge of university facilities, equipment, risk management and safety standards, data systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the CET mission and program areas, strategic planning process including budgetary reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of procurement, surplus, insurance, and warranty processes and procedures.



Skills
  • Interaction and working relationship skills dealing with students, faculty and administrators at community colleges or universities.
  • Skills in the use of advanced technology to include personal computers, specialized equipment within the college, asset management.
  • Skills in coordinating logistical activities, planning, facilities and government regulations.
  • Skills in the systems specific to standards and guidelines for the care, custody, and control of equipment & capital assets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and team building skills. Strong management skills to include project management reporting and documentation.

Abilities
  • Enthusiastic about student success and facilitating student and faculty interaction.
  • Ability to organize and manage technology resources and how to prioritize resources in an environment where demands constantly exceed available resources.
  • Ability to work effectively with many constituencies in diverse communities to include contractors and vendors.
  • Ability to conduct internal/institutional research and review publish analytical reports to inform the strategic planning process.
  • Ability to make difficult decisions and properly respond to sensitive situations.
  • Ability to organize events and carry out major projects with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Ability to be a team player and demonstrate accountability for responsibilities.
  • Ability to assist and accommodate guests on campus.



Preferred Qualifications:
Administrative experience at a university or community college.



Physical Requirements:
Office work. Sitting, Standing, Typing, Some physical Activity will be needed.

Pay Range: $72,688 - $90,861 DOE
