The University of Georgia’s University Health Center seeks candidates for the position of Staff Psychiatrist. This position is full-time, twelve-month, benefited, and provides primary, secondary, and tertiary psychiatric services to eligible members of the UGA community within an ambulatory scope of service. This position, reporting to the Director of Counseling and Psychiatric Services, is responsible for providing initial evaluation for psychopharmacological interventions based on the presenting concern, clinical interview, subjective questionnaires, and consultation with counseling staff.  Make internal and external referrals as indicated following practice guidelines and general scope of service.  This position also provides expert consultation to staff throughout the Health Center and participates in Medical Staff oversight of safety and quality in care provision. This position provides clinical supervision for psychiatric nurse practitioners, behavioral care managers and counselling staff.  Work collegially with primary care staff and support the collaborative care model through a consultative relationship with primary care providers through embedded Behavioral Care Managers as part of an integrated model with medical services. Psychiatric Services are co-located with Counseling Services and the integrated delivery model for mental and behavioral health is organizationally identified as Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS). 

Required qualifications: MD or DO Degree, completion of accredited psychiatric residency, BC/BE in psychiatry, and physician licensure in the state of Georgia by date of hire. one year of clinical experience in a university counseling or mental health setting, and/or one year of experience as a consulting psychiatrist in a Collaborative Care Model or similar. Desired qualifications include: CPR/AED certification required within first year of employment. Training and 2 years or more of experience working with individuals from traditionally underserved populations – first generation, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, Latinx, rural, veterans.  Board Certified in Psychiatry.  Familiarity and skill with brief assessment and crisis intervention, one year or more of supervisory experience, completion of an accredited child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship.  This position includes a full suite of great benefits and the salary is commensurate with experience.
