Description:
Full-time tenure-track faculty position for candidates with earned Ph.D. or terminal Master’s degree (MFA in ID) in Interior Design or closely related field.
Full-time, renewable contract, non-tenure track for candidates with earned Master’s degree (not terminal).
Assistant Professor Position begins August 1, 2022 depending on
availability.
Responsibilities:
Teach on campus undergraduate courses in four or more of the
following areas within the interior design field: residential and
commercial interior design studios (beginning to advanced), design
presentation and media (hand and digital), interior design
products, materials and methods of building construction including
construction documentation, building codes, and digital
presentation application (AutoCad, Revit, SketchUp, InDesign).
Active involvement within the college, school and department; student advising and mentoring, college-wide committee work and engagement in scholarship and/or professional activity required.
Qualifications:
Earned Master’s degree required with specialization in interior
design or closely related area. Earned doctoral degree or terminal
Master’s degree preferred with specialization in interior design or
closely related area. Professional design experience and successful
teaching experience strongly preferred. NCIDQ certification and/or
licensure in closely related fields required. Experience with the
CIDA accreditation process is preferred.
Salary:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Academic Environment
The Interior Design Program is housed within the Department of
Human Environmental Sciences which also includes programs in Child
Development, Fashion Merchandising and Design, and Family and
Consumer Sciences. Meredith’s Interior Design program, which has
been CIDA accredited since 1993, has an emphasis on professional
practice which prepares students for success in positions in
commercial and residential design.
Meredith College is located in the urban center of Raleigh, North
Carolina with easy access to the Research Triangle Park. The
growing metropolitan Raleigh area, with a population of about 1.25
million, boasts many cultural and recreational opportunities. The
local design community is very supportive of the program, the
faculty and students.
