Career Coordinator (Student Services Professional 1 – MR07 )

The Career Coordinator maintains the organization and professionalism of collaborations with business partners as they work to prepare Mosaic students for workforce transitions within the local community and beyond. The position is responsible for carrying a large caseload of students throughout the academic year as well as monitoring and assessing the effectiveness of career preparation and the professional development of all Mosaic students. The Career Coordinator creates curriculum to enhance professional development of students in Mosaic through professional coaching.

Duties and Responsibilities

Works with local business partners to better prepare them for supervising employees with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) through the delivery of effective training workshops and resources; manages the coaching relationship, mentoring relationship, problem solving, and relationship with internship/volunteer sites; assesses the career preparedness, community engagement, career placement and retention for Mosaic students as it contributes to the success of Mosaic students; researches best practices for career preparedness and develops evidence-based resources for both students and business partners; develops and further improves professional partnerships both on campus and in the community to enhance knowledge of Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and manages partnerships for effective career/internship placements; develops and maintains effective collaborative professional relationships with various employers and fosters relationships with the expectation that this person will serve as the contact for requested business centered trainings.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:
  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and the impact on individuals in an educational setting
  • Organizational skills necessary to plan and carry out campus events
  • Research/assessment skills and the development of evidence-based resources
  • Ability to maintain required duties of this position while developing collaborative relationships
  • Supervisory skills necessary to support the development of mentors and teaching assistants

Minimum qualifications: Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Human Services); and one year of paid/unpaid experience in an educational setting with people with ASD.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree; one to three years of working experience in a higher education setting with individuals with ASD: excellent written and oral communication skills; and ability to develop marketing materials for Mosaic.
