Position Description

 

Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their scholarship, teaching, and/or service as well as a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds.

The position reports to the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and works closely with Program Directors and faculty to ensure quality instruction. The position is responsible for recruiting, hiring, on-boarding, preparing and continued development of all part-time contingent faculty and GTAs. This position also serves as a resource, linking instructors to technology support for Canvas, teaching resources, instructional development and enhancement, and supportive techniques in resolution of any classroom difficulties.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage the daily operations of the Office of Academic and Student Affairs.
  • Track, monitor, and prepare annual reports on all academic and related activities within the SSW.
  • Schedule all faculty to courses offered each semester within the SSW.
  • Recruit, hire, and support contingent instructors for teaching available classes each semester.
  • Coordinate development opportunities to increase instructional knowledge and skills for all faculty.
  • Ensure that all faculty meet required accreditation standards for SACS and CSWE.
  • Actively pursue best and innovative practices to enrich the experience of students, regularly assess and evaluate these practices, and publish/present such findings as appropriate.
  • Teaches a 1:1:1 course load as appropriate per experience and qualifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Social Work or other related discipline

 

Preferred qualifications

 
  • Master of Social Work (MSW) Degree
  • 2+ years of post-MSW practice experience
  • 2+ years teaching experience in higher education
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Experience working in a large academic school or collge
  • Experience developing strategic plans, establishing priorities and goals, and ensuring achievement of goals
  • Experience in effectively managing budgets and other resources
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of Canvas, Microsoft Teams, and other multimedia educational tools
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional development
