Job Summary:

The graduate programs within the Division of Education at Judson University invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Educational Research and Instruction at the assistant or associate level, starting AY2022-2023. Part of the load will also include responsibilities as Assistant Director of Doctoral Programs in Education.

Primary Responsibilities: 27 hours, including 6 hours as Assistant Director

Duties are mainly at the masters and doctoral level and will likely include team-teaching in graduate-level research and writing courses as well as potentially teaching in the candidate’s area of specialty at the doctoral level.  Some teaching at the undergraduate level may occur. Experience with or affinity for literacy or educational leadership as an area of specialization is helpful. The successful candidate is expected to conduct an active research agenda in the field of education, advise masters and doctoral candidates, and work collaboratively with colleagues.  The duties of the position also include student advising and participation in department and university governance.  Oversight of the program, including student advising, faculty advising and hiring, curriculum development, recruitment of students, course scheduling, and planning events is part of the Assistant Director role.

Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate, (ABD will be considered, but the completed doctoral degree is required by the start of the contract, August 1, 2022)
  • Documented or demonstrable potential to develop a strong scholarly record with evidence of ability to conduct and disseminate educational research
  • Evidence of superlative teaching experience at the graduate level
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in relation to faculty, administration, staff, and students
  • Experience with administration of educational programs is a benefit
  • A commitment to the Mission, Educational Goals, and Community Standards of the University
  • The ability to integrate faith within the discipline of Educational Research in an engaging and compelling manner
  • Collaborative skills to work with colleagues across the Department and throughout the University

Key Job Elements:

  • Design and deliver instruction through the development of robust syllabi and purposeful activities to meet course competencies
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of graduate-level program in literacy education and educational leadership and policy studies
  • Guide graduate-level candidates through the process of research
  • Serve on graduate level research committee(s) as needed
  • Contribute regularly to the research community
  • Recommend texts, instructional materials, and other resources as needed
  • Manage the learning environment through keeping accurate records; submitting attendance, grades, and other reports on time; implementing academic and attendance policies
  • Participate in professional organizations and conferences
  • Develop the curriculum and course schedules for the program
  • Recruit students
  • Hire and review faculty members
