The Department of Educational Psychology in the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of educational/developmental psychology. The Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education (JRCoE) aspires to become a diverse and inclusive community of learners who engage in transformative scholarship with and in communities to advance justice and promote human dignity. In line with this, we seek candidates who have particular expertise in developmental psychology, who are well-grounded in current theories of educational psychology (cognition, learning, motivation), and who are committed to building collaborative and innovative scholarship, which will contribute to transform students’ and adults’ learning, lives, and communities.

The responsibilities of the position consist of but are not limited to teaching undergraduate teacher preparation courses and graduate level courses on developmental psychology, cognition, learning, and motivation; advising and mentoring graduate students; supervising teaching assistants; directing doctoral dissertations; coordinating undergraduate courses in collaboration with teacher education program faculty; developing or continuing a productive research agenda in educational psychology; seeking external funding to support research, teaching, and service activities; and providing service to the department, college, university, profession, and community.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: an earned doctorate or completion of doctorate degree by August 1, 2022 in educational psychology or developmental psychology or closely related field; willingness and ability to conduct research and make scholarly contributions to the field of educational psychology; willingness and ability to provide quality instruction and mentorship for both undergraduate and graduate students.

Desired Qualifications: Strong program of research in educational psychology; experience teaching courses in developmental psychology, cognition, learning, and motivation at both the undergraduate and graduate level; demonstrated ability to apply expertise across various educational settings, and across the continuum of infancy through adolescence; demonstrated ability to obtain external funding; and demonstrated commitment to working towards equity and justice in education.

Application review will begin November 15, 2021 and continue until the position is filled. The position is a 9-month position and is expected to begin August of 2022.
