Job Summary

The Museum Programs Coordinator completes a variety of administrative and operational duties to support educational programming for the RISD Museum. Additional daily tasks will include planning and execution, promotion, data collection and tracking, documentation, and evaluation. This role also schedules On-Call Educators and serves as their primary point of contact for program-related logistics and communication. Working under the guidance of the Assistant Director, Family and Teen Programs, the Coordinator participates in and facilitates programs as required. Essential Functions
  • With a detailed understanding of program areas, coordinate, schedule, and serve as primary point of contact for On-Call Educators, leveraging their skill sets and areas of expertise to identify and create programmatic synergies. Communicate with On-Call Educators about program goals, expected outcomes, and administrative-related needs. Serve as a key point person for internal staff on select programs related to scheduling, logistics, and relevant communications such as program promotion.

  • Actively participate by providing logistical and other programmatic support and/or facilitate museum educational programs, as needed. Fully engage in Educational Department discussions and topics related to learning, teaching, and working with Museum audiences.
  • Actively engage in program planning, as well as related documentation such as registration information, attendance, and other related data tracking. Provide pre-programmatic and day-of logistical and administrative support for events such as hands-on experiences, gallery activities, etc., including but not limited to: ordering, assembling, and distributing supplies and other programmatic materials; scheduling of event spaces and staff and ensuring sufficient room set-up; providing on-site support during registration and with other technological needs; and ensuring lesson plans are completed and submitted in a timely manner.

  • Create content for website, social media, and other print and online marketing materials to promote programs, as requested. Actively participate in community outreach, including engaging in visit opportunities on RISD’s campus, as well as in local schools and youth organizations to promote programs and expand audiences, as needed.

  • Utilize Museum software tools and systems (Altru, Museum Plus, TypeForm) and ensure timely and accurate data entry related to educational programs, including but not limited to calendar/web listings for events, event promotion, registration details, enrollment numbers, participant tracking.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience

Must recognize diversity and inclusion as central to excellence. Experience building connections and communicating effectively in both oral and written with faculty, staff, teachers, teens, parents and diverse external partners and organizations required. Proficiency with computer software, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and database-related software required. Must demonstrate strong attention to detail. Ability to facilitate and deliver museum educational programs or not for credit instruction. Associate’s degree required. Minimum of two years working with a variety of audiences (teens, young people, etc.) required. At least one year of experience providing administrative and programmatic support required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree. Credentials in art and design or art and design education.

Aptitude for learning other design software and programs. Proficiency in creating and designing marketing and other promotional materials.
