Job Description:

Job Summary

Reporting to the School of Nursing Dean, the Director of Nursing Clinical Education works collaboratively with the Chair, Associate Dean, and Faculty Clinical Coordinators to act as a liaison to clinical agencies and facilitates off-site clinical and on-site simulation experiences, mentors adjunct faculty, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Flexible schedule but requires availability to provide guidance to clinical faculty teaching weekdays, and on occasion during evening hours, and weekend clinicals, as needed.

Essential Functions:

1. Administrative:

  • In collaboration with Faculty Clinical Coordinators, selects and evaluates clinical sites and experiences to ensure learning outcomes;
  • Seeks suitable alternatives for clinical education in collaboration with Faculty Clinical Coordinators in response to internal and external factors as needed;
  • In collaboration with Faculty Clinical Coordinators ensures annual meetings with clinical agencies occur;
  • Maintains documentation of clinical agencies site visits, student site evaluations, and contract reviews;
  • Monitors and communicates changes in regulatory and agency requirements;
  • Follows up on any unusual occurrences with notification to faculty and Dean;
  • Reviews and updates clinical faculty training manuals, policies, or procedures at least annually;
  • Supervises the Clinical Placement Administrator.

2. Adjunct Clinical Faculty Oversight:

  • Provides formalized mentoring for new or BSN prepared adjunct clinical faculty;
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and onboards adjunct faculty;
  • In collaboration with the Clinical Placement Administrator, initiates adjunct clinical contracts;
  • Maintains agency specific and annual training documentation for clinical faculty;
  • Orients clinical faculty to course objectives and role expectations;
  • Plans, coordinates, and attends clinical meetings with adjunct faculty and Faculty Clinical Coordinators at least twice a semester;
  • In collaboration with Dean and Associate Dean, ensures review of student evaluations of clinical faculty;
  • Provides support to adjunct faculty for urgent issues that emerge including those during evening or weekend hours.

3. Student Support:

  • Assigns students to clinical groups in collaboration with the Clinical Placement Administrator in consultation with Faculty Clinical Coordinator;
  • Facilitates alternative experiences for student who have had clinical absences based on plans created by the Faculty Clinical Coordinators.

Additional Functions:

  • Participate in School of Nursing, clinical coordination, and simulation meetings;
  • Attend Centralized Clinical Placement and agency meetings;
  • Cross- train to provide coverage for Clinical Placement Administrator role;                 
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned master's in nursing.
  • 3 years teaching in clinical setting.
  • Licensed as an RN in Massachusetts.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous administrative or lab/simulation experience within a nursing program is a plus.

At the College's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the College, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
