 The Department of Biochemistry (http://mcb.illinois.edu/departments/biochemistry) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks outstanding applicants for a full time endowed, tenured position at the rank of Professor.  Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree in biochemistry or a closely related field, and have a strong international reputation in the area of biochemistry.  The anticipated start date is August 16, 2022. We welcome applications from outstanding scientists with a vibrant research program, and commitment to academic service duties and ability to teach effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching and/or service endeavors, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of our institution. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The Department seeks to strengthen its efforts in diverse areas including, but not limited to:  biochemistry, biophysics, membrane protein structure and function, nucleic acid biochemistry and contemporary structural biochemistry. The successful candidate would also provide synergy with major campus research thrusts, particularly in cancer, neurobiology, immunology, cardiovascular biology, mechanistic biochemistry, imaging, RNA biology and plant biology. The Urbana-Champaign campus offers a wide range of state-of-the-art research support facilities that include the Roy J. Carver Biotechnology Center, the W. M. Keck Center for Comparative and Functional Genomics, as well as facilities for X-ray crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy and microelectron diffraction, NMR, EPR, proteomics, metabolomics, high-throughput screening, immunology, flow cytometry, microscopy, and transgenic mice. The campus has strong programs in biophysics, bioengineering and chemistry, and superb computational resources are available at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications and the NIH Resource for Macromolecular Modeling and Bioinformatics.
