Assistant Professor - Boston U Mental Health Counseling & Behavioral Medicine Program (full-time)

Boston University School of Medicine is expanding our CACREP accredited counselor education training program and is seeking two (2) qualified candidates for a full-time faculty member in the Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine Program (MHCBM) in the Department of Psychiatry at the Assistant Professor level.

The anticipated start date is summer of 2022.

The MHCBM Program is uniquely positioned within a medical school that has the largest safety-net hospital and busiest trauma and emergency services center in New England as its primary teaching affiliate, Boston Medical Center. The location of the program allows for exceptional teaching, training, practice, and research opportunities. Responsibilities

The selected candidates will be responsible for teaching two 3-credit courses each fall and spring semester, with opportunities to teach in the summer terms. Additional responsibilities include student advisement and mentoring, serving on program, department, and university committees, service to the community, and engaging in scholarship and grant-funded activities.

 

Qualifications

An earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited program is required. Applicants must also have former teaching and clinical experience, and demonstrate a strong professional affiliation for the counseling profession, specifically counselor education. The successful applicant will be licensed or license eligible in the state of Massachusetts.

 

In addition, preferred qualifications include: 

· Teaching experience in a masters’ level counselor education program

· Commitment to and demonstrated work in areas of social justice

· Potential for professional leadership and/or scholarship at the national level

· Successful history of grant funding

· Experience or interest in neurocounseling and/or behavioral medicine

· Background and commitment to integrated health care

· Clinical experience in one or more of the following: community health centers, hospital settings, academic/medical centers, and additional integrated care settings.
