The TCU Department of Social Work invites applications for the position of Social Work Assistant Professor (9-month, tenure track appointment) starting Fall 2022. The successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda, teach three classes in the fall and spring semesters, and engage in department, college, community, and professional service. We seek applicants who will support our social justice advocacy work at the micro, mezzo, and macro level of social work practice. The TCU Department of Social Work employs a curricular paradigm emphasizing social change, applying a critical social justice framework to education, and engaging in trauma-informed care. We seek candidates inspired to support social work students as they cultivate knowledge and skills in these areas.

Applicant Qualifications

• A PhD in social work or related discipline by 8-20-2022. (DSW degree with a strong research emphasis will also be considered)
• Two years of post-MSW practice experience
• Current LMSW or LCSW or eligible to obtain an LMSW or LCSW in Texas within a year of hiring
• University teaching experience (undergraduate and/or graduate course teaching experience)

Department Details
The TCU Department of Social Work serves students in both our BSW and MSW programs. The Department also participates in Harris College of Nursing and Health Sciences’ interdisciplinary PhD program in health sciences. Students in our programs are trained through the Departmental curricular paradigm to be leaders in the use of critical lens, social change, and trauma informed practice. TCU is located in a metroplex of over 7.5 million people, and the Department of Social Work partners with several community-based agencies and organizations through research and its robust field program. Students receive mentorship opportunities with internationally recognized faculty who conduct research in scholarly areas such as workplace inequality, intellectual and developmental disabilities, gender-based violence prevention, LGBTQ child-parent relationships, and human trafficking. The Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences consists of programs that prepare future health care and human services professionals. The academic units within Harris College – Communication Sciences & Disorders, Kinesiology, Nurse Anesthesia, Nursing and Social Work – are home to more than 1,600 students who are supported by committed and talented faculty and staff. Harris College offers 17 degree pathways in our health-related disciplines.
