Johns Hopkins University’s Central Talent Acquisition Team is currently looking for a detail-oriented Talent Acquisition Specialist to provide a wide range of recruiting and HR support to the recruitment department. The successful candidate will embrace and advance the university's HR mission of attracting, developing, retaining, and engaging a high-performing workforce in support of excellence in the university's mission, while promoting diversity, equity, civility, and respect.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides operational and administrative support in a high-volume, fast-paced recruiting environment.
  • Support includes scheduling interviews, creating pre-hire files, conducting reference checks, initiating background checks, travel requests, and collecting documents for pre-hire files.
  • Partners with Sr. Talent Acquisition Specialists and Talent Acquisition Consultants to source candidates and screen a high volume of inbound resumes and recommend qualified candidates. Builds candidate pipelines to fill current and anticipated vacancies.
  • Writes and edits external job ads and postings in collaboration with recruiter and hiring officials. Makes recommendations on advertising venues.
  • Provides full-cycle recruitment, as needed, for a limited number of basic/routine positions within assigned departments. Supply and discuss relevant information on job applicants with the responsible hiring manager for their consideration and decision.
  • Screens employment applications, conducts employment interviews, and performs employment verification and background checks.
  • Verifies I9s; stays abreast of domestic and international compensation and hiring regulations (visa processing as needed).
  • Updates candidate records and job postings in JHUJobs, JHU’s Applicant Tracking System. Conducts new employee on-boarding sessions.
  • Represents the university at job fairs, career days, campus visitations and community outreach activities and other sourcing activities
  • Assists university employees seeking positions as a result of reduction in force.
  • Works on special employment projects.
  • May also provide administrative support including acting as a back-up for the front office (answering phones, assisting walk-in applicants with online process, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or other related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • One year of related recruitment experience. (Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula).
  • Experience working in a high-volume, fast-pasted environment.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Works extensively with the web, databases and spreadsheets, Applicant Tracking System, Microsoft Office and electronic mail.
  • Prioritizes multiple responsibilities. Collaborates effectively with others.
  • Creative and resourcefulness skills needed to be able to handle various HR issues and concerns effectively while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Problem solves and resolves conflict; researches, analyzes and interprets data.
  • Communicates well verbally and in writing.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
