Description

The Department of Public Administration and Policy (DPAP) in the School of Public Affairs at American University invites applications for a full-time, postdoctoral fellow beginning August 1, 2022 and ending July 31, 2023 (renewable for one more academic year). Applicants should have a PhD or an anticipated PhD completion by August 2022 in the field of public administration, public policy, economics, political science, or a related field. 

American University prides itself on having a diverse workforce and to that end encourages applications from underrepresented minorities interested in advancing their stellar careers in public administration and policy. Field of study is open but candidates conducting research in areas that build upon the strength of DPAP’s faculty are especially welcome including public administration, public management, research on the nonprofit sector, and the policy areas of education, health, and poverty. Postdoctoral Fellows will participate fully in the academic life of the department, including engaging with faculty and participation in DPAP’s research seminar series. Teaching responsibilities will include two courses per academic year in the school’s Master of Public Administration, Master of Public Policy, and minor in Public Administration and Policy. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.  

Qualifications

Applicants should have a PhD or an anticipated PhD completion by August 2022 in the field of public administration, public policy, economics, political science, or a related field.
