The senior director of social media and web content will be an integral member of the University's marketing and communication's team, overseeing the strategy and execution of UVU's social media and web properties to reach the University's goals and enhance its reputation with key stakeholders.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Develop the strategy and direct the execution of the University's digital communications, primarily social media & web content strategy. Develop strategic goals and objectives to support the vision of the institution, determine a course of action, assess the results, and evaluate the outcomes. The plan of action will include the strategic approaches to using social media that will maximize the different platforms and enable UVU to reach its different audiences with clear, consistent messages, high-impact content, and publishing strategies that have a positive impact on the University's reputation and image. (20%)

2. The senior director's job will also include overseeing the tracking and monitoring of the University's social media presence, ensuring that the information being shared online is valuable and engaging for the University's stakeholders. The senior director will interpret data by the monitoring services used by the University including Social Bakers and Meltwater and oversee the creation of reports for key internal and external audiences. (15%)

3. The senior director is also responsible for overseeing the execution of advertising and public relations campaigns to reach KPIs. He/she will provide guidance on how to modify campaigns to reach objectives. (15%)

4. Because social media trends change quickly, one of the senior director's main responsibilities will be to monitor and apply trends. The senior director will analyze each platform individually and adopt new social, media outlets to achieve University goals. (5%)

5. The position will oversee the UVU website, ensuring it is an effective marketing and communications channel for the University. (15%)

6. The senior director will work with internal stakeholders to maintain the University's social media policies and digital communications guidelines. They will also develop and maintain internal processes and governance to ensure UVU's brand consistency and online reputation. (5%)

7. This position will work closely with the leadership team of marketing communications (Integrated Marketing, Editorial, Media Relations, and Broadcast and Photography departments)and also other key internal partners (Institutional Advancement, Office of the President, Executive Events, etc.) to develop strategic, integrated marketing communications plans that support the institution's 2030 vision, as well as guide the execution of digital marketing and communications tactics that supports the related advertising, public relations, promotions, and internal communications initiatives. (10%)

8. The senior director will manage the development and publishing of social media assets in partnership with our broadcasting services department and our communications colleagues. As the significance of video increases in importance, the senior director will work in close partnership with photography and video development to create the best messaging, imagery and branding to increase engagement and participation in our social media channels. It will also develop strategies to improve the searchability of information in all our platforms. (10%)

9. The senior director will oversee the University's social media team and student interns, helping to mentor, manage, and develop the team and ensure a positive and productive working environment. (5%)

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Social Media Management, Communications, Business or a related field, plus 4 years of experience in social media and web strategy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge

  • Proven working experience leading digital marketing.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and managing SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media, and/or display advertising campaigns.
  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends).
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement.



Skills
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate.
  • Must have experience and ability crafting diverse marketing programs with a demonstrated and effective working knowledge in direct marketing, advertising, sales promotion, media, and public relations to create a sound and unified institutional brand that is unique and world-class. Working knowledge of how to develop video assets for digital campaigns.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business, plus 2 years of experience.

Physical Requirements:

Pay Range: $82,711 - $103,389
