D’Youville College, in partnership with the national search firm Scott Healy & Associates, is pleased to announce the search for a Founding Program Director for the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program (tenure-track, open rank position). This exciting new program is currently being developed and presents a unique opportunity for a professional committed to clinical psychology education to envision and implement an innovative program dedicated to the preparation of clinical psychology doctoral students to work as health services psychologists in a range of settings and roles.

The PsyD Program will serve to complement the portfolio of current programs and deepen D’Youville’s commitment to preparing health care professionals at all levels. The program will be housed within the Department of Social Sciences. The strategic vision for the program includes setting up the foundational groundwork for the PsyD Program and ensure its achievement of APA accreditation. Once the program is established, the Professor and Founding Director’s duties will be overseeing the day-to-day operations and directing accreditation activities related to the APA-accredited PsyD Program.

The Professor and Founding Director will be a creative thinker and have experience with all aspects of program development, accreditation and administration, including but not limited to curriculum development, leading APA accreditation activities, student recruitment and retention. The Professor and Founding Director will also help recruit and manage faculty, serve on and participate in departmental and college-wide committees. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to engage in scholarship, keep an ongoing professional presence and provide support and guidance related to initial and ongoing accreditation of the program including program assessment and implementation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the operation and administration of the PsyD Program;
• Responsible for teaching, advising and mentoring students in the PsyD Program and/or other programs within the college or school as appropriate;
• Develop and coordinate clinical fieldwork placements in the community and will supervise clinical service delivery in D’Youville’s Health Professions HUB;
• Pursue a robust scholarly agenda in the field, serve on department, school-wide and institutional-wide committees, ad hoc task forces, work groups and perform student recruitment activities as well as participate in curricular design, course and program review, assessment and evaluation with a goal of attaining APA accreditation as soon as possible;
• Exhibit strong communication skills, proactive problem-solving skills, support students and work well in teams;
• Responsible for creating and maintaining a culture of inclusion that engages students and values each person’s contribution to the shared D’Youville educational mission.

The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, practice, teaching, service, and/or administrative experience, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

Qualifications:

Successful applicants must hold a doctoral degree in clinical psychology and have knowledge of APA accreditation standards. Having experience in leading accreditation efforts is a plus. Professional licensure (or license eligible) in the state of New York is required. The Professor and Founding Member should display strong leadership, organization, technology literacy, interpersonal ability, time management and self-motivation. In addition, successful candidates will demonstrate evidence of working successfully with diverse populations and meet the following:

• Doctoral degree in clinical psychology;
• Knowledge of and experience with APA accreditation standards;
• Administrative and/or management experience in an academic setting;
• Preference given to candidates with professional licensure;
• Exceptional competence in his or her field.
