The Simmons School of Education & Human Development invites applications for a tenured position at the Associate Professor level in bilingual education or English as a second language in the Department of Teaching and Learning. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in graduate education by teaching two courses or the equivalent each semester, as well as maintain an active research agenda, which includes seeking external research funding. We are especially interested in candidates whose scholarly work is at the intersection of bilingual education/ESL and assessment or special education. We encourage advanced Assistant Professors who have records commensurate with promotion to Associate Professor to apply. Required qualifications include: (a) earned doctorate in a bilingual education or ESL-related field; (b) demonstrated and ongoing record of scholarly work commensurate with rank of Associate Professor; (c)

(f) history of obtaining or applying for external funding for research; (d) excellence in teaching graduate courses; (e) demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion; (f) experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations; and (g) evidence of participation or leadership in national and/or international professional organizations.

Preferred qualifications include: (a) experience developing and/or sustaining collaborative partnerships and interdisciplinary initiatives; (b) multi-lingual candidates who are fluent in English and Spanish; (c) two or more years of experience working in Pre-K-12 contexts; and (d) demonstrated mentorship of doctoral students.

The Simmons School was founded in 2005 and is ranked among the top 15 private education schools in the United States. The school has undergraduate and graduate programs across five academic departments, including Applied Physiology and Wellness, Counseling and Dispute Resolution, Education Policy and Leadership, Graduate Liberal Studies, and Teaching and Learning. Comprised of two state-of- the-art academic buildings, the Simmons School has over 80,000 sq. feet of office and classroom spaces, applied physiology labs, and a 21st century teacher development studio to advance the development of pre-service and in-service teachers.
