Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine seeks a BC/BE cardiologist for a unique opportunity to join a dynamic academic program and collaborate with our regional partners to provide medical leadership in the areas of provider resources, clinical and quality care, clinical operations and strategic and program development. The regional partner for this opportunity is ProHealth Care, whose primary hospital site is located in Waukesha, WI.

Principal Duties:

In addition to the on-site leadership role for our regional partner and UW Health Cardiovascular regional clinic locations, this position has responsibilities for providing inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular services at UW Health locations in Madison.

50% Leadership Role: Regional Medical Director Role: 40% Provide medical direction to the UW Health Heart & Vascular Center at ProHealth Care for a minimum of sixteen (16) hours per week on average, at least eight (8) of which will be provided on-site with an option to provide the remaining of the medical direction remotely. 10% Provide medical direction for all other UW Health cardiovascular regional clinics.

50% General Cardiology Clinical Role: Responsibilities for patient care include inpatient cardiovascular medicine service and night call at UnityPoint Health - Meriter hospital (a partner of UW Health, located in Madison); outpatient cardiovascular service including echo, nuclear medicine, and stress testing; and coverage at regional sites based on the needs of the division. Responsibilities will also include clinical teaching of medical students, residents and fellows, and other service appropriate to the position.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD or DO required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

5+ years of clinical experience in a Heart and Vascular Program required.

The Program Medical Director must be Board certified or Board eligible in a heart or vascular related specialty or subspecialty and meet the requirements for membership on ProHealth Care medical staff.

License or Certificate:

Wisconsin license required

Board certified or Board Eligible

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
