Job Description Summary

We seek a highly motivated, dedicated postdoctoral fellow/research associate to conduct innovative economic modeling research working within Dr. Ruiqing Miao’s research group in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology at Auburn University.

The focus of this position is on conducting problem-oriented and policy relevant research developing computational and econometric models to understand the economic and behavioral incentives for new technology adoption and associated environmental implications for land-use change, water quality and carbon emissions. The individual selected for this position will work directly with Dr. Ruiqing Miao (Auburn University) and Dr. Madhu Khanna (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign ( UIUC ) in close collaboration with researchers at a few other institutions.

This is a benefit eligible, non-tenure track position. The appointment is for an initial period of one year with a possibility of continuance up to a maximum of four years depending on performance and funding availability.

The Department: Discovering and transmitting socio-economic knowledge to students, Alabama, and the world is our mission. As a multidisciplinary department, 14 faculty members are agricultural economists and 2 are rural sociologists. This includes a mix of research, teaching, and extension appointments to achieve the department’s mission in conjunction with other university departments, industry, and organizations. With retirements, there has been an opportunity to hire 5 new tenure-track faculty in the past 1.5 years. Faculty and students publish in top journals in their respective disciplines. The Department has excellent facilities, an experimental economics laboratory, over 150 undergraduate students and about 30 M.S. and Ph.D. students. Minimum Qualifications

The minimum qualification is an earned Ph.D. in agricultural economics, environmental and resource economics, energy economics, operations research, or related field at the time employment begins and relevant experience in performing quantitative modeling and analysis. Experience in computational methods linking economic models with biophysical and hydrological models, econometric methods, dynamic optimization, survey design, excellent communication skills and an interest in working with interdisciplinary researchers on topics related to renewable energy economics will be among the selection criteria.

The individual selected for the position must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States by the start date and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.

Desired Qualifications

Research experience in large scale numerical simulation, survey methods, and choice experiment design is desired/preferred.
