THE DEPARTMENT : One of the largest departments on the SUNY Cortland campus, the English Department is composed of approximately forty faculty across four programs, Literature, Professional Writing, Adolescence Education in English, and Composition with eight of these faculty teaching in the literature program. The department offers three majors: English, Professional Writing, and Adolescence Education in English and serves approximately 200 majors and minors and 20 graduate students in addition to supporting students in other education programs. With small class sizes, our faculty get to know our students well, with additional opportunities to work with students outside the classroom through research or through our department clubs. Major Responsibilities
Teaching
Teach courses in English studies including introductory, advanced, and graduate level courses as well as the Later British Literature Survey.

Scholarship/Research
Maintain an active scholarly program.

Service
Participate in department and college-wide committees and other forms of service.

  • Works under the direct supervision of the department chair.

Education:
Required Qualifications: Ph. D. by time of appointment with specialization in British Literature and Culture, 1870–1940
