Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
The School of Education’s Grants Fiscal Administrator will provide oversight of all grants and contracts awarded to the School of Education through various sponsoring agencies. This includes the analysis and interpretation of financial and operational issues to ensure compliance with federal, state, local and university policies and procedures. This position will also provide backup for the E&G Fiscal Administrator. Minimum Hiring Standards
-2 or more years of experience in sponsored project management
-Demonstrated ability to develop unique solutions to complex situations
-Demonstrated ability to assess, evaluate and develop courses of action to meet stakeholder needs
-Experience in fiscal management of sponsored projects with emphasis on development of budgets, reconciliation of accounts, and evaluation of compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations
-Knowledge of VCU and Commonwealth of Virginia accounting policies and procedures.
-Knowledge and experience in working with state and federal travel regulations
-Knowledge and experience in the administration of research grants and contracts
-Experience with reconciliation and analysis procedures of fiscal records and reports
-A professional attitude and confidentiality is of the utmost importance in all interactions
-Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work
-Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks by stated deadlines
-Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office software
-Demonstrated ability to work independently.
-Must have pleasant, positive and helpful service attitude
-Ability to provide excellent customer service to a diverse population required
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse learning environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU Preferred Hiring Standards
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and/or experience
-Master’s in business or related field highly preferred
