Job Summary:
Miami University’s Office of Admission seeks an energetic,
creative, and collaborative individual to serve as admission
counselor for international recruitment. In partnership with
admission team members, the admission counselor will play an
integral role in meeting international enrollment goals and assume
the management of an international recruitment territory to include
relationship management, application review, and international and
domestic travel.
In addition to assigned territory management and collaboration on
in-person and virtual international admission events and programs,
this position will be primarily responsible for monitoring the
international email and WhatsApp accounts. The admission counselor
will also be a Designated School Official (DSO) and be a point
person for the issuance of I-20 visa documentation to admitted
international students.
The person will assist with the recruitment of international
transfer students and international transfer application
review.
Duties/Physical Demands:
Develop working knowledge of Miami University programs,
opportunities, and policies and communicate information about the
Miami brand, experience, and outcomes and its admission policies
and procedures to prospective students, families, and other key
influencers, particularly through virtual presentations and via
email, WhatsApp and other electronic channels. (25%)
Manage assigned recruitment territory, including potential
recruitment travel both domestically and internationally as well as
via virtual events and programming, through the use of market
research and other admission data; prepare statistical reports and
analyses. (20%)
Build and maintain relationships with select international
agencies, organizations and school officials within the assigned
recruitment territory. (15%)
Participate in assigned electronic file review for international
first-year and international transfer admission (15%)
Participate in the issuance of I-20 visa documentation to admitted
international students (15%)
Other duties as assigned. (10%)
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
Knowledge of and experience with computer systems and various
software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint
Must be able to work some evenings, perform overnight and some
travel, including international travel, lift 30-40 lbs. of
recruiting materials, and possess a valid driver’s license.
Must meet governmental requirements to become a DSO and issue I-20
visa documents.
Candidates with more than two recruitment cycles of experience in
admission, or more than two years of experience in higher
education, recruitment, or marketing may be considered for senior
admission counselor.
This position is available to persons who are currently located and
authorized to work in the United States on a full-time and
indefinite basis. (Persons authorized to work on such a basis
include US citizens, lawful permanent residents (“green card”
holders), asylees, refugees, and temporary residents under
IRCA
This position is not eligible for H1-B Visa or OPT support. It is
not eligible for PERM sponsorship.
Desired Qualifications:
Master's Degree
1-2 years of experience in higher education, recruitment,
marketing, or other related field
Experience with customer relations database (Slate)
Experience working with school counselors, community-based
organizations, alumni volunteers
Event planning experience
Data analysis experience
Ability to speak a second language
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ideal candidates will demonstrate a proven positive work ethic
and attitude, possess exceptional written and oral communication
skills, dynamic group presentation skills, and proven commitment
and ability to work with diverse constituencies.
Must be able to work independently and as a team member, and handle
multiple tasks simultaneously with a high attention to detail.
