The Advancement division at Dartmouth is searching for a key partner to join Alumni Relations as Assistant Director of Alumni Lifelong Learning. Pioneers in the educational travel industry, the Lifelong Learning team engages alumni and their families through enlightening global travel adventures that connects travelers with exciting destinations and Dartmouth's faculty and research. In your new role, you will collaborate with the Director to provide program leadership for the conception, development, and implementation of quality educational events and travel programs designed to engage and cultivate alumni involvement and participation. Our newest programming, Dartmouth NEXT was born to deliver programming focused on the issues of today and ensures new collaboration opportunities. A virtual forum of big ideas in contemporary issues, there's something for everyone.

If you bring us solid skills in the Microsoft Office suite that are part of our everyday work (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), we'll teach you the rest of our software programs through our onboarding plan.
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years of work experience, or the equivalent. Experience in areas such as events, program management, or business/financial management (P&L, balance sheets, etc.) could lend itself well in this role.

This position can offer you an option of working onsite on our beautiful campus in Hanover, NH, hybrid (the best of both worlds!), or fully remote. A hybrid option would find our hire residing within a commutable distance to our campus. A fully remote option could be available for those that reside in, or are willing to relocate to, California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, or Vermont. Our preference would be a hybrid option but we are open.

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Four years of relevant experience in event or program management or the equivalent
  • Demonstrated creative planning, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with pricing, marketing, budgeting, and financial management
  • Interest or experience in a profit-center business
  • Understanding of the role of both strategic and financial goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially when dealing the issues of alumni travelers
  • Ability to be perceptive and responsive to direction set forth from leadership
  • Ability to motivate and work effectively with volunteers, groups, and individuals
  • Ability to organize own work, coordinate projects with others, manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; database management software; comfort with learning new software as needed
  • Willingness to travel, work nights and weekends
  • Commitment to diversity and to meeting the needs of a diverse community
  • Excellent attention to detail
