Position Function:

This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track faculty position under the supervision of the department head.

Salary Grade : UC

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include teaching introductory-level courses in Biology I, Biology II, and Animal Diversity, as well as upper-level courses fitting the applicant’s interest and the department’s need. These assignments may include preparing, coordinating, and supervising lab sections with the support of graduate teaching assistants. The opportunity to teach summer courses for additional pay may be available to meet student demand.

Minimum Qualifications:

M.S. degree in a relevant biological science, instructional experience at the university or community college level, excellent communication and organizational skills, and familiarity with common instructional technologies. Candidates with degrees pending will be considered if the expected completion date is before the position’s start date. Preference will be given to candidates who use evidence-based teaching practices, have instructional design experience, are committed to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment, have taught a variety of courses, have experience coordinating teaching laboratories, and demonstrate excellence in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, a minimum of one-year instructional experience, and experience coordinating teaching laboratories.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; strong organizational and computer skills.
