Toi Rauwhārangi is Massey University's College of Creative Arts, based in Wellington, New Zealand offering internationally acclaimed degrees in Design, Māori Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Commercial Music, and Creative Media Production. Our reputation as a leader in innovative creative arts research and practice is built on our ability to provide an inspiring learning environment and a supportive and professional faculty that stimulates inventiveness, knowledge, and skills to succeed and lead across all creative disciplines.

The opportunity

We are seeking an inspiring leader who will actively engage with the wider creative community, our students, and our staff, to ensure Toi Rauwhārangi is at the cutting edge of innovation and research development across the creative industry.

As the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Toi Rawhārangi College of Creative Arts, you not only will you provide effective leadership and strategic management of the College but also co-contribute to the mission and strategic objectives of the University as a member of the University's Executive team.

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • A minimum of a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline, with proven professional mana and credibility in the creative industry, and an excellent record of accomplishment in your field
  • Exceptional leadership experience of diverse teams, with the ability to bring out the best of those you manage
  • Proven success in the timely delivery of forward-thinking strategic initiatives, including managing transformational change and showcasing innovation in a complex environment, while exercising fiscal restraint and maintaining the ability to remain financially responsible
  • Exceptional communication and relationship management skills across all levels, and the ability to engage successfully with external stakeholders in a progressive, creative but challenging environment
  • Demonstrated ability to skillfully drive research performance across a range of disciplines, developing contemporary learning and teaching environments that enhance the student experience

Key to your success is a demonstrated capacity to contribute effectively within a senior team, enabling 'whole of university' thinking and awareness and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and an ability to embrace and lead the University's strategy in relevant and practical ways.
