The School of History and Sociology (HSOC) is a department within the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts (IAC), and serves as the primary home for the disciplines of history and sociology at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). Job Summary

The School of History and Sociology at Georgia Tech invites applications for the Melvin Kranzberg Professorship in the History of Technology. Melvin Kranzberg was one of the principal founders of the history of technology as an academic field in the United States. The successful candidate will be eligible for hire as an associate or full professor, to be commensurate with experience and accomplishments. The position is open to scholars in any subfield of the history of technology, broadly defined. Candidates with transnational or global interests are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is expected to begin in August 2022. Members of historically underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. required. Candidates should possess a demonstrable international reputation in the history of technology with an outstanding publication record and a strong teaching dossier. The successful candidate must show excellence in both research and teaching and will be expected to contribute to the school's undergraduate program and especially to its graduate program, which grants M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in the History and Sociology of Technology and Science.
