College of Education Tenure-Track Faculty: Assistant/Associate Professor

The College of Education at Clemson University invites applications and nominations for two tenure-track positions within the Department of Education and Human Development. These positions have an anticipated start date of August 2022. The successful candidate for each role will join a collaborative and engaged faculty dedicated to fulfilling the college mission through research, teaching, and service. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Advanced Assistant or Associate Professor of Learning Sciences: Quantitative Research Methodologist

The College of Education at Clemson University seeks a 9-month, tenure-track Advanced Assistant or Associate Professor of Learning Sciences. The ideal candidate will have a strong program of funded interdisciplinary research established. While the candidate may have a line of theoretical research in quantitative methodology, it is essential for them to have a line of substantive research that will complement the Learning Sciences faculty's current research in educational psychology, psychometrics, data science, digital media and learning, and/or child/adolescent development through the application of advanced quantitative methods. Candidates must be able to teach undergraduate courses, develop and teach graduate courses, actively recruit and supervise students in the Learning Sciences Ph.D. program, collaborate with the EHD Quantitative Clinic, support strategic initiatives across the College of Education and the campus, and provide leadership and service at the local, state, and national levels. Strong candidates will be comfortable teaching advanced courses in quantitative or psychometric methods such as SEM, IRT, Multilevel Modeling, and Survey Development. Experience in program evaluation is also desired.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in Learning Sciences, Educational Psychology, or related field.
• A strong record of scholarship and publication.
• Established record of significant external grant funding.
• Experience teaching in higher education and working with diverse student populations.

Assistant Professor of Literacy: English Language Learner Emphasis (ESOL)

The College of Education at Clemson University seeks a 9-month, tenure-track assistant professor of literacy and language education with an emphasis on English language learners (ESOL). This is a 9-month, tenure-track position with an anticipated start date of August 2022.

Responsibilities include:

Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in PK-12 English language learning (ESOL) Teaching in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats Recruiting, advising and mentoring graduate (MEd and PhD) students Developing a strong area of research and scholarship that informs theory and effective practice in teaching ESOL and other emergent multilingual students as well as scholarship disrupting the challenges that ESOL communities face. Seeking external funding in support of ESOL/multilingual scholarship and teacher preparation. Collaborating on learning, discovery, and engagement activities within the College of Education, across the university, within PK-12 schools, and across the field. Advocating to address structural inequalities imposed upon ESOLs and emergent multilingual students and families. Providing service to the department, school, university, state, and professional community.

Required Qualifications:

Earned doctorate in Literacy with ESOL emphasis or related field (Education; Culture, Literacy, and Language; Applied Linguistics/TESOL; Educational Linguistics; Second Language Acquisition; Bilingual/Multilingual Education; or other relevant disciplines) Demonstrated scholarship and publication in ESOL and/or bilingual education. U.S. PK-12 teaching with ESOLs or related experience Experience teaching in higher education and working with linguistically and culturally diverse student populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in ESOL/emergent multilingual education foundations and methods in various modalities History of partnership and advocacy in linguistically diverse communities Experience teaching at least three years in ESOL/emergent bilingual students in PK-12 U.S. schools in multilingual, ESOL classrooms Experience in advising graduate students Experience in seeking or obtaining external funding
