Primary Purpose of Position:
The primary purpose of this position is work involving the receipt and transmissions of radio, telephone, and computer messages, and dispatching law enforcement, fire and emergency medical units as required, on a 40 hour a week schedule with rotating shift, Testify in court cases and before University committees on criminal and civil incidents, regarding policy revisions and emergency recordings, Ensure that all Federal, State, Local and University laws and procedures are enforced relative to FCC (Federal Communication Commission) and State Regulations and Assist in reviewing and evaluating emergency procedures and Tele-communicator's activities while performing their job duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency and demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Requires certification as a Division of Criminal Information Computer Operator or the ability to achieve certification within 45 days of employment.

Some positions may require Basic Telecommunicator Certification in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission or the ability to achieve certification within one year of employment.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the geography, policies, procedures, jurisdictions and computer system. Ability to remain calm while handling numerous tasks simultaneously. Ability to speak clearly and distinctly at all times. Ability to think clearly and act promptly in emergencies and under pressure.
