Position Summary:

Serves as the institutional Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy compliance officer. Develops institution-wide policies in coordination with the HIPAA Security Officer and the HIPAA Operations Committee. Maintains compliance data and oversees the HIPAA Privacy compliance program and affiliated staff. Develops and delivers training, monitors institutional risk, and communicates risk and remediation strategies to leadership to ensure compliance with institutional policies and HIPAA.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

- Bachelor's degree required
- Juris Doctor, Master of Public Health, Master of Health Administration, Ph.D., or other relevant advanced degree strongly preferred

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

- At least 7 years of HIPAA compliance experience with a research institution or academic medical center, or relevant legal or compliance experience
- Experience applying HIPAA in research, educational, and clinical settings preferred

License or Certificate:

Certified or eligible for certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance preferred
