The salary range for this position is $65,000 – $69,000 at CAT II level. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.

The Department of Computer Sciences at Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking applications for a one semester, full-time CAT II faculty position in Computer Science for the Spring 2022 semester. The Department of Computer Sciences is focused upon providing an outstanding learning environment for our undergraduate students that includes opportunities for undergraduate research. Therefore, a commitment to high-quality teaching and student success is paramount.

The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups. Duties/Responsibilities
This position is primarily a teaching position, requiring a 15 credit hour load in the Spring 2022 semester.

  • Teaching involves activities that impart knowledge and critical thinking skills to students. It includes preparing for courses assigned, assessing student progress, conducting curricular review, curricular development, and supporting ABET required reviews.
  • Teaching also includes advising, which involves activities specifically directed to assist the student in choosing career options, choosing a degree program, successfully completing his or her degree, obtaining employment or graduate school placement, and keeping informed of University policies.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field + at least 3 years of college teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment and effectiveness in teaching and learning
  • Earned doctoral degree or currently pursuing a doctoral degree
  • Demonstrated interest or ability in developing research projects in computer science or computer science education
  • Experience working with, and sensitivity to, the needs of a diverse, urban student population including (but not limited to) students of color, LBGTQIA students, students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans, and English-language learners
