Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Title: Casual Employee – Peer mentors

Department: Biological Sciences

Reports to: Program Director

Status: Temporary, Non-Benefit Eligible

Location: Lisle Campus

Position Summary: Alumni of MSIP program will assist with tutoring, grading and peer-mentoring and will be aid in class room activities and proctor exams.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Assist with classroom activities

2. Hold study sessions

3. Assist with grading assignments, papers and exams based on a rubric

4. Serve as peer mentors and help students proof read their application and statements. Also help with standardized test preparations.

Required Qualifications:



Education: Master's Degree Required in Integrative Physiology

Experience: Previously a student in the course that they wish to serve as an assistant

Specific Skills: B or better in the course that they wish to be a GA

Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: N/A

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Use of computer screen, phone and customer service. May require bending, or sitting for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Per Gov. Pritzker’s Executive Order proof of vaccination or weekly COVID-19 testing is required.
