Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic), the Dean of the Faculté is responsible for the leadership and administration of all aspects of the operations of the Faculté and Centre collégial de l’Alberta, including budget and fund development. Due to its geographically separate and linguistically distinct Campus, the Dean also facilitates and helps oversee and assess certain support services and non-academic programs. As a senior administrator of the University, the next Dean of the Campus Saint-Jean will strive to align and balance the interests of the University with the interests of the Faculté and foster an environment in which world-leading research and excellence in teaching and engaged scholarship flourish. As the face of Faculté, the Dean is a champion of curricular initiatives, research, scholarship, professional training, a liaison with the francophone community global outreach, and recruitment of high-quality faculty and student talent. To ensure academic quality and integrity, the Dean will cultivate a collaborative and cohesive environment where students, faculty and staff will thrive.

To be considered, candidates must hold a PhD and have in-depth knowledge of the university environment. They must have proven experience as a senior administrator as well as solid expertise in educational planning. A strong understanding of the political landscape around official languages in Canada and experience working in a multi-ethnic environment with linguistic minority groups are critical assets. Likewise, a demonstrated capacity of bringing life to EDI strategies and TRC calls to action will be extremely valuable. They should have a passion for quality education, proven planning and organizational skills, the ability to set and communicate a clear vision, strong interpersonal skills, a sense of initiative, high EQ, political acuity, and sound judgment. Mastery of the French language, oral and written, is essential. International experience is an asset.
