The Department of Health & Kinesiology at Purdue University seeks applicants for an academic-year (9-month) tenure-track faculty position (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Full Professor) in one of the core areas of Kinesiology – exercise physiology, biomechanics, exercise psychology, social science, or motor behavior.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Health & Kinesiology or a related field (for example, physiology, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, medicine, health psychology, etc.), have appropriate postdoctoral experience, and show evidence of scholarship in one of the core areas of Kinesiology. An independent line of research is expected. Applicants at the associate and full professor levels are expected to have significant extramural funding. Applicants at the assistant professor level are expected to demonstrate either current or strong potential for extramural funding. Applicants committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion are preferred.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to and expand our nationally recognized program and federally funded research portfolio through scholarly activity, teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs, advising students, and serving on departmental, college and/or university committees. There are ample opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations within the department, the College of Health and Human Sciences, and campus-wide emphasis areas (e.g. imaging and engineering). Professional collaborative opportunities and pilot funding exist within the NIH-supported Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, the A.H. Ismail Center for Health, Exercise, and Nutrition, Discovery Park, the Center on Aging and the Life Course, the Cooperative Extension Programs of Health and Human Sciences, Center for Musculoskeletal Health, and over 100 Centers at Purdue. The Department of Health & Kinesiology is one of nine units in the College of Health & Human Sciences and is home to over 550 undergraduate and graduate students. Purdue is consistently ranked among the leading research institutions in the country and has the second largest international student population among U.S. public universities.
