The Department of History & Political Science invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate professor in Political Science with a secondary field in Law OR International Relations (IR) and Comparative Politics. The Department offers a B.A. in Political Science with a concentration in Liberal Arts, and Prelaw and an M.A. graduate program with a concentration in Political & Governmental Processes. This is a full-time, tenure-track, nine-month appointment, beginning August 15, 2022. Duties and Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to teach introductory-level courses in American Government and upper-level courses in their secondary field in Law OR IR/Comparative Politics.
  • An active research agenda focused on an aspect of their secondary field, together with plans to sustain a research agenda focused on their specialization.
  • Responsibilities include teaching four classes (12 hours) per semester.
  • Creat new courses in their specialization/secondary field.
  • Faculty members are also expected to advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students
  • Develop classroom simulations such as Moot Court & Mock Trials or Model UN.
  • Supervise practicums and internships.
  • Direct student research, field projects, professional papers, and theses.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in various modes of distance education.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduates and graduate students,
  • Provide service to the department, college, university, and community.
  • Ability to enhance the Department’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Political Science with a secondary field in Law OR International Relations (IR) and Comparative Politics. Advanced ABD’s within six months of completion of all Ph.D. requirements will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have strengths in one or more of the following areas Law OR International Relation and Comparative Politics.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful candidate must have an academic background in Political Science, which includes teaching Law OR IR/Comparative related courses at the university level; an ability to do scholarly research, and proof of that ability with peer-reviewed scholarly publications.
