Primary Purpose of Position:
Carry out research and duties related to the project “Nuclear Security Advanced Manufacturing Enhanced by Machine Learning (NSAM-ML) Consortium”. While working at a National Lab in New Mexico, the Research Scientist is required to have active interactions and collaboration with the PI and the students.

Minimum Education/Experience:
Ph.D. in materials science and engineering or equivalent (e.g., Nanoengineering, Physics Engineering, Electric Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering), and 2) Strong experience in fabrication of functional materials and nanomaterials, Piezoelectric nanocomposites, and Silicon processing technologies and MEMS.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The postdoctoral scientist must have done research on fabrication of nanocomposite piezoelectric and ferroelectric materials, multi-scale characterization and modeling of fabricated materials, and have published in these areas. Practical experience in advanced techniques for nanomaterial fabrication (e.g., ALD, CVD,…), quantum dot fabrication, ion implantation, silicon processing, and MEMS design and fabrication is desirable.The ideal candidate must have experience in i) fabrication of the above listed materials , ii) multi-scale characterization of the fabricated materials, for which the minimum required experience includes High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy, Electron Diffraction, Z-Contrast, EELS, Scanning Electron Piezoelectric Microscopy, Spectroscopic methods, Electric and optical nanoprobe methods (Conductive AFM, Scanning Confocal Raman or TERS, NSOM). Knowledge of MEMS technologies is desirable, but not required. Highly interactive interpersonal skills for effective communication with project team members and scientists across materials science and physics disciplines are required.
