AUM Office of Student Affairs, at Auburn University at Montgomery is seeking a Student Events Coordinator. Reporting to the Dean of Students, this position functions as a key leader in coordinating activities associated with Student Affairs events programming.

Student Events Coordinator

Coordinates activities associated with Student Affairs events programming, other assigned programs and assists administrator as needed.

Assist in assessing student activity needs and designing events, activities, and programs that enhance student life; assist with department annual report.

Advises faculty and staff as necessary and coordinates activities.

Maintains related supplies, equipment, and instructional materials.

Serves as advisor and provides guidance and direction for groups.

Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, guests, staff, faculty, and community partners.

Support the planning and logistics of Warhawk Welcome Week, Homecoming, and other campus traditions

Coordinate office operations.

Assist in developing student leadership teams through training and other opportunities.

Manage student and paraprofessional staff. Assist in supervising SWOT team regarding completing hours at campus events.

Coordinate special projects as needed, and collaborate with other offices to support events, including Office of Accountability and Advocacy, Multicultural Affairs, and Student Involvement and Leadership Programs.

Coordinate and support Student Affairs events as assigned in conjunction with CAB, SGA, and other student leadership groups.

Develop new programmatic initiatives in conjunction with other units on campus.

Collaborate with university marketing to create effective marketing and PR for all orientation programs on all advertising mediums (social media and college websites, flyers, etc.).

Serve on university committees in areas that focus on student development and success.
Collaborate with other AUM Divisions and Office/Departments on transitions programming.

Prepare reports and content for presentations, workshops, publications and website.

Manages, produces, and oversees departmental marketing materials including social media presence for Student Affairs

Oversee voucher, contracts, and payment of services and vendors specifically related to events.

Collaborate with Orientation, Admissions and Enrollment Management stakeholders to support retention and recruitment in terms of orientation and admission events.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of applicable University practices and procedures
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Knowledge of the transition needs of first-year and transfer students
Ability to speak in public and make presentations
Ability to supervise
Interpersonal skills
Written communication skills
Ability to respond to multiple competing demands
Ability to use a computer and relevant software applications
Ability to work with individuals from various backgrounds
Ability to effectively use technology
Ability to input data into a CRM and manage students registration and check-in in the orientation registration system
Ability to process, review, and evaluate student documents
Ability to conduct student interviews
Ability to provide training for participants, students, and/or clients Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience organizing events is required. Experience working in higher education is preferred. Additional education in related field may be substituted for experience.
