The John Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University (WVVU) invites applicants for a tenure-track position in the department of Management Information Systems at the Assistant Professor rank beginning either January 2022 or August 2022. This position is a 9-month faculty appointment in support of college-level, online graduate programs in Business Cybersecurity and Business Data Analytics programs, and undergraduate face-to-face and online programs in MIS, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and AI/ML.

West Virginia University (and The John Chambers College of Business and Economics) is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate has a demonstrated record of excellence in research with the potential to establish an independent research program and a commitment to excellence in university teaching. Candidates must have knowledge, skill and interest in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in the topics of cybersecurity and networking, data analytics, AI, Machine Learning, or similar topics, and must be willing to establish and maintain relationships with university partner organizations, in support of our outreach activities. Certifications in cybersecurity topics are preferred.

Candidates are expected to:
  • Have earned Ph.D. before the start date of the position with a dissertation topic focusing on: management information systems, information sciences, computer science, business administration, cybersecurity, data analytics, AI/ML, GIS, or a related field.
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate classes in topics related to the areas of Cybersecurity, Network Security, Security Management, Computer Forensics, and Application Security, at a minimum.
  • Demonstrate ability to conduct research in Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, AI/ML, and/or related fields.
  • Demonstrate willingness to actively participate in college and university committees and activities, as well as to perform outreach activities and establish relationships with external partners to provide hands-on experience for students.
  • Demonstrate willingness to supervise student activities outside of the traditional classroom setting.
  • Be fluent in writing and speaking English.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Certifications in areas of Cybersecurity
  • Practical experience in the area of Cybersecurity
